Q: I am a lesbian and when I am intimate with my partner my left lip of my lady area becomes the side of a golf ball. In a week it will return to normal size. This time after being intimate I also now have a slight burning when I use the restroom and a little spotting. What could this possible be? A: Many things can cause swelling of the labia. A common condition is a bartholin's gland cyst. It causes one side of the labia to swell, it may be red and very painful. Allergic reactions and irritation less likely if it is on one side. If it is persistent you should have it checked out.
